CARTABLE

The Extraordinary Story of an Ordinary Class Alone on Stage: Humor and Emotion The Théâtre de Poche’s Review: A deeply moving performance full of humanity. Irresistibly spot-on, irresistibly funny! A true favorite! Gloria Da Queija delivers a breathtaking performance that could easily deserve a Molière Award. With incredible agility, she brings to life a cast of characters that are as funny as they are moving. Don’t be fooled by the simplicity of the subject: CARTABLE is a rare, deeply human show that touches each and every one of us. Some classics are simply worth kicking off a season with. It’s back-to-school time, with all the stress and excitement that brings! Ms. Tapis, an elementary school teacher, meets her new second-grade class—these little people with big personalities with whom she’ll share her daily life throughout the year: Ewann with his boundless energy, his perceptive but shy friend Pierre, Justin the model student, Marie who’s always daydreaming, and Lonna with her inner rage... This one-woman show, both funny and moving, immerses us in the daily life of a teacher full of good will and her students—all so different and endearing. Like a chameleon, the actress plays all the characters: the teacher, the children, her colleagues, the school inspector... "Cartable" is a tribute to the exciting profession of elementary school teaching.
