As France’s leading spa resort, Balaruc-les-Bains is much more than just a health resort. Nestled on the shores of the Étang de Thau, seven kilometres from Sète, it offers the perfect blend of relaxation and adventure: people come here for the healing properties of its exceptional waters, but also to glide across the lagoon on a paddleboard or in a kayak, learn to sail at the Manuréva centre, or stroll through the Ancient Mediterranean Garden. And throughout the year, theatre, music, dance, cinema and photography make Balaruc a vibrant town, well worth exploring beyond its thermal baths.

Live from Sète

It was Louis XIV himself who, by deciding to build a port there, sealed the fate of this town that is quite unlike any other. Sète, ‘the singular island’ as Paul Valéry called it, has since forged a powerful and endearing identity, shaped by its canals, Mont Saint-Clair, its boat races, its museums (MIAM, Musée de la Mer, CRAC Paul Valéry Museum, Espace Georges Brassens, MACO), its theatres, its Quartier Haut and its Pointe Courte. Not to mention its market halls and their abundance of flavours, which alone encapsulate the Sète way of life. A city apart, in every sense of the word.
