At the beach
If you’d like to enjoy a refreshing dip with your dog whilst on holiday, here are the beaches where dogs are allowed to swim:
- In Mèze: in front of the tambourine court, Chemin de l’Escouladou (all year round).
- In Balaruc-les-Bains: Hespérides beach, at the foot of the former O’balia thermal spa (all year round).
- In Frontignan: Aresquiers beach, between access points 34 and 40 (all year round).
- In Sète: Vassal Beach, between access points 73 and 74 (all year round). The other beaches in Sète are accessible to dogs on a lead only from 1 October to 31 May, except Jalabert Beach (entrances 62, 63, 64 and 65) in order to protect the nesting of protected migratory birds that nest in this area during this period.

A few tips
- Our animal friends suffer from the heat too. Don’t leave them in your car whilst you’re out and about! Also, make sure you take them out during the cooler parts of the day so they don’t suffer from heatstroke.
- To improve everyone’s quality of life, please remember to pick up after your dog. Failure to comply with the local by-law of 25 September 2006 on dog fouling may result in various types of fines.
Lost touch?
If you have lost your dog, please contact the local police first. Then contact the Noé Animal Centre (+33 (0)4 67 27 55 37). This is where animals are taken after being taken to a vet if they are injured (treatment costs are the owner’s responsibility). The owner has a legal period of 8 working days to reclaim their pet before it is considered abandoned and handed over to the SPA shelter at the Noé animal complex in Montpellier.
