Description
The Conservatoire %E0 Rayonnement Intercommunal (CRI) of S%E8te Agglop%F4le M%E9diterran%E9e invites you on Wednesday, November 18, 2026, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. to the Maurice Ravel Auditorium for an exceptional concert by the Coquelicot Quartet—an ensemble of instruments from the tuba family—conducted by Gabriel Daumas-Raoux.
A quartet with rich, velvety tones
The Coquelicot Quartet consists of two euphoniums, a saxhorn, and a tuba. The euphonium lends the ensemble a round, velvety sound, yet one of great virtuosity. The saxhorn, on the other hand, has a clearer, more distinctive tone. The tuba serves as the quartet’s bass and envelops the ensemble with a deep, warm sound—a unique and surprising sonic palette.
An Eclectic and Ambitious Repertoire
The group explores an eclectic repertoire blending original works, classical transcriptions, and contemporary compositions—a program that reveals the full richness and versatility of these instruments, which are often underappreciated in this chamber music setting.
