Description
An engaging and interactive tour %E0 to discover Jean Vilar’s extraordinary world!
The exhibition pays tribute to the artist who profoundly transformed theater in the postwar years, both at the Avignon Festival and at the Théâtre National Populaire. By surrounding himself with painters, each of whom brought their own unique vision, he created a visual poetry, viewing the stage as a bare, evocative space to be filled with the shifting splashes of color from costumes and banners.
Through a seven-section exhibition featuring nearly 40 paintings and about 100 graphic works, as well as costumes and tapestries, this extensive exhibition will trace the interplay between the arts from the 1950s to the 1970s.
