Description
The château takes its name from the Montlaur family, who took possession of the seigneury in 1210.
It is the founding element of the village, along with St. Peter's church. The château is U-shaped, with a central courtyard that probably housed a well.
Numerous alterations have altered the buildings. Today, the right wing contains a vaulted room that the Sisters of St. Charles converted into a chapel in the 19th century.
Interesting 16th-century frescoes. The corner turrets, or poivrières, appear to date from the 17th century. Originally, the château had one in each corner, and the two that have survived show elaborate carving.
