Description

Nestling along the Thau lagoon, the Soupié meadows extend over 66 hectares of stunningly beautiful wetlands. This protected natural site is one of the jewels in Marseillan's crown. These lagoon environments are home to a rich and abundant biodiversity, typical of Mediterranean wetlands. The Boffie marsh and the brackish water stretching beyond the D51 road provide ideal conditions for a number of remarkable species, including the thornless Bugrane, and are important spawning grounds and nesting sites for birds. The discovery of this sensitive site is now facilitated by a remarkable 300-meter-long wooden deck. This environmentally-friendly development enables cyclists and walkers to cross this fragile area in complete safety, while preserving the tranquillity of the wildlife and the integrity of the ecosystems. The footbridge is a continuation of the greenway linking Marseillan to Mèze, offering visitors a unique route through a landscape of shimmering lagoons, salt meadows and reed beds. Designed with the utmost respect for the environment, the project reflects the company's desire to reconcile the sustainable development of green tourism with the preservation of natural environments. During your visit, remember to preserve the beauty of this exceptional site by respecting the flora and fauna, as well as the tranquillity of the site and other visitors who also come to enjoy this unspoilt natural environment.
