Description

An Agnès Varda festival at Pointe Courte—what could be more natural? It is as much a tribute to the filmmaker as it is to this little fishing village that seems to rest on the lagoon for the artists. It is also a return to the roots. At the birthplace of the New Wave—a cinematic style blending fiction and documentary—Agnès Varda became its pioneer and one of its leading figures. In 1954, a young, virtually unknown photographer came here to shoot her first film, *La Pointe Courte*, in this exceptional setting that serves as the film’s namesake. It has opened every edition of the festival since its creation in 2022 by Michel Brel, a former fisherman and shellfish farmer who was born in La Pointe. Films to (re)watch, screenings at 10 a.m., 2 p.m., and 6 p.m.: - Thursday, the 17th: *La Pointe Courte* (1955) - Friday, the 18th: Les Cent et Une Nuits de Simon Cinéma (1995) - Saturday, the 19th: Le Bonheur (1965) - Sunday, the 20th: Les Plages d’Agnès (2008) Free admission with reservation at 06 31 00 16 10 Exhibition of photographs by Agnès Varda during the festival Musical performance on Friday, September 18 at 7:00 p.m.
