Contemporary Artworks in Public Spaces
Conceived by Sète Agglopolé Méditerranée, the BAM consists of four artistic trails that invite visitors to explore the Thau Archipelago in a new way. Here, the artworks guide your stroll, open up the landscapes, tell the stories of these places, and reveal the cultural, architectural, and natural heritage of each municipality. In total, 19 permanent contemporary art installations, situated in public spaces, mark these itineraries.
Four Routes: Thau’s Slopes, Lagoons, Shores, and Sète
Four routes cover the entire region: Thau Slopes, Ponds, Thau Shores, and Sète—allowing visitors to discover the artworks as well as nearby points of interest.
Two versions for all audiences
The app includes a family version with games and augmented reality, and a version for visitors eager to learn more through interviews and videosof the artists explaining their work and how it relates to the natural or architectural environment. A playful mascot also offers quizzes for younger visitors.
A project supported by the government
Each artwork is the result of close dialogue between the artists and local elected officials, both in the selection of sites and in the themes addressed, in order to create a strong connection between contemporary art and the identity of the locations. This initiative is supported by the government as part of the decentralized public commission program and the Fund for Regional Planning and Development (FNADT).
