Description
Completed in 1858, the interior of the “Notre Dame de l’Assomption” (Our Lady of the Assumption) church contains a number of different elements that bear witness to history. These include a pink marble font, mosaic paving from a Roman villa in front of the altar and a crucifix dating from the 18th century. Prominently displayed at the centre of this place of worship is one of the famous reproductions of “The Annunciation” by Guido Réni (1575-1642), the renowned Italian painter and engraver. His original 3.19 x 2.21 m painting, ordered by Marie de Médicis and brought to France, was produced in around 1629. Since 1792 it has been displayed at the Louvre.
