Description

Fourteen municipalities in the Hérault department have joined forces for a large-scale public commission to create an art trail spanning the entire region. Supported by the Occitanie Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs, the BAM project—designed to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Sète Agglomération Méditerranée— features artworks in public spaces along four itineraries organized within the Thau Archipelago. The “Les Rivages de Thau” route is one of the four itineraries of the BAM project— "Balades Artistiques en Méditerranée," organized by Sète Agglopolie Méditerranée in partnership with the Thau Archipelago Tourist Office. This route runs along the shores of the Thau Lagoon, a Natura 2000 site, passing through six municipalities with complementary identities— an oyster-farming village, a spa town, a wine-producing port, and a medieval village with a circular layout. Six contemporary artists have created permanent works there that engage with the region’s natural, maritime, and historical heritage.
