The Thau Archipelago

The Thau Archipelago

In this little corner of the south, which could almost stand on its own, fishermen, sailors and oyster farmers live side by side, having gradually turned their trade into a way of life in its own right.

The Thau Archipelago, a Mediterranean destination, comprises 14 municipalities: Balaruc-le-Vieux, Balaruc-les-Bains, Bouzigues, Frontignan, Gigean, Loupian, Marseillan, Mèze, Mireval, Montbazin, Poussan, Sète, Vic-la-Gardiole and Villeveyrac. Each one blends its Mediterranean identity in its own unique way, offering visitors a complete experience as they discover an authentic region.

Why the Thau Archipelago?

Here, everything begins with water. It is everywhere, setting the pace of life and giving this region its unique character. People come here to swim, relax, savour the oysters and mussels farmed in the lagoon, or make the most of its healing properties to recharge their batteries with a spa treatment.

The Thau Archipelago comprises 14 towns to explore, including five classified resorts, each with its own personality, yet all linked by the same Mediterranean spirit. Like an archipelago of islands close to one another, they are waiting for just one thing: for you to explore them, from village to village, along the water’s edge.
