Description
Maria Bertel is a Danish trombonist, improviser and composer whose work is inspired by drone and noise music. Through the amplification of the trombone, Maria Bertel lets us hear sounds that usually escape our ears.Monophonic is a study of music played in "one voice". The compositions are long, slow-building layers of sound. The humming and grinding of the trombone creates shifting harmonics, strange clicks and clatters, cyclical adjustments of timbre, accompanied by abrupt breaths. This concert is offered as part of In a Landscape, a season of touring concerts initiated by the GMEA Centre National de Création Musicale d?A program designed by the GMEA in Albi and Le Vent des Signes in Toulouse, in partnership with Crac Occitanie and the École des Beaux-Arts in Sète.
