Description
Occitan Music Takes Center Stage
The Trio d'Estieu, meaning "summer trio" in Occitan, presents a repertoire rooted in the musical traditions of Languedoc and, more broadly, Occitania. Folk melodies, traditional dances, songs from the Mediterranean region—vibrant, deeply rooted music that is accessible to all.
Three instruments, a unique sound
The Languedoc oboe, an iconic instrument of traditional Occitan music with a powerful and expressive tone, interacts with the drum and the accordion to create a musical trio that is both festive and poetic. A rare ensemble that revives the folk music traditions of Lower Languedoc.
An intimate, acoustically rich setting
The United Protestant Church of Sète offers an exceptional acoustic setting for this type of music; its spaciousness, resonance, and contemplative atmosphereperfectly complement the warm tones of the Languedoc oboe and the accordion.
