Musique du Monde / TaraknaTarakna, in the Amazigh language, is the woven woollen carpet on which we gather to share tea, bread and the spoken word, where we "weave" bonds during nocturnal meetings. Tarakna, before sunrise, was born of research into the tales and poems of Algerian Berber women, collected by anthropologist Tassadit Yacine and Kabyle poet Malek Ouary. This poetry, handed down from mother to daughter, reveals an unsuspected freedom of tone, evoking stories of non-consensual unions and secret love, as well as those of a peddler who travels from peak to peak, and legends such as the dance of the mare.
