Originally from Martinique, Louisa Marajo explores the dynamics of ecological and colonial chaos through immersive installations combining sculpture, photography and poetry. Her work places the sea at the center of a reflection on climate change, notably through the study of the proliferation of sargassum in the Caribbean.The exhibition "La solidarité des destinins" is the result of a three-month residency in Grau-du-Roi in 2025. The artist went to meet the men and women involved in the world of professional fishing, and was able to embark on trawlers and "petits métiers" boats, live to the rhythm of this port, and get to know the daily lives of these men and women whose entire lives are devoted to fishing. Somewhere between a science-fiction banquet, a dreamlike fish market and the atmosphere of the ocean floor, Louisa Marajo plunges visitors into the space of dreams, in an immersive scenography designed especially for Crac.Louisa MarajoGraduated from ESAD Saint-Étienne and La CracESAD Saint-Étienne and La Sorbonne, Louisa Marajo has taken part in several group exhibitions (Pérez Art Museum Miami, 2019; Biennales de Dakar, 2022, 2023; Rencontres de Bamako, 2022; Biennale de Ouagadougou, 2023).This exhibition, presented during Escale à Sète, a major celebration of maritime traditions in the Mediterranean, is sponsored by the Municipality of Grau-du-Roi, the Occitanie Region and the Parlement de la mer d?Occitanie, and co-financed by the European Union and the Occitanie Region under the FEAMPA program.
