Like every year, the magic of Christmas comes to Mèze with the inauguration of the village nativity scene, the fruit of a collective effort carried out with passion and patience by a team of dedicated volunteers.This 2025 edition marks an important milestone: after eight months of creation and two months of assembly, this year the nativity scene is illuminated by new, fully-electrified buildings. These include the gasworks, a symbol of yesteryear?s progress, the old Beau-Rivage mill, the Esplanade kiosk, the completely refurbished Nativity stable, and a brand-new lighthouse that now watches over the port. The models depict the whole of Mèze: the trades of yesteryear, local traditions and scenes of life, both religious and secular, that form the living face of the village. Particular attention was paid to the lighting: a 28 m² blue fabric, patiently sewn by Danièle, evokes the sky of the crib, while Adrien ensured the complete electrification and lighting animation of the décor. This collective project would not be the same without the team of volunteers who work behind the scenes, nor without the residents who entrusted their family santons, giving the crib a unique soul, both intimate and shared. The inauguration will be followed by an eight-minute sound and light show, retracing the birth and life of the crib through a poetic and immersive narrative. The evening will conclude with a convivial aperitif at the Salle Jeanne Oulié, to extend this moment of sharing and celebration. The model workshops will continue every Wednesday evening from February onwards, to prepare for future editions and enable all those who wish to join in this wonderful adventure of craftsmanship and humanity.
