Description
Join us on Saturday, November 7, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at La Baleine Rouge, %E0 S%E8te, for a new edition of “Poisson-Chat & Mots Amers,” the poetry and literary gatherings hosted by Dominique Aussenac. There you’ll meet the poet Gisèle Pierra, whose gaze travels between here and elsewhere, yesterday and today.
* The Guest
Based in Pignan, Gisèle Pierra draws her inspiration from her early childhood in Khénifra, Morocco; from the voices and phrases she’s picked up in the cafés of Lodève, in Africa, and elsewhere; but also in art, her exhibitions, and the work of the poet Frank Ducros, her husband. An emeritus professor at Paul-Valéry University, Gisèle Pierra taught the artistic practices of the spoken word (theater, poetry) in French as a Foreign Language. Today, Gisèle Pierra devotes herself to poetic writing and public readings in French and Occitan, accompanied by musicians Gilles Siouffi on piano and Delphine Chomel on violin.
* Her publications
*Le corps la voix le texte*, Arts du langage en langue étrangère (L'Harmattan, 2006).
* *Ciel renversé*, a collection of poetic prose from 1981 to 2021 (Lucie Éditions, 2021).
* *Le c%E8dre bleu* (The Blue Cedar), Stories of Everything and Nothing (2022–2025), translated into Occitan by the author (Lucie %C9ditions, 2026).
Discography: *Poèmes a cappella* (1999) and *Illuminations* by Arthur Rimbaud (2005), featuring piano improvisations by Gilles Siouffi.
