Going to the beach in Sète

With 12 km of golden sand against a blue backdrop and nearly 320 days of sunshine a year, the beaches of Sète have a well-established reputation. They are even one of the Thau Archipelago’s major attractions, offering holidaymakers the choice of enjoying views of the shellfish farms in the Thau lagoon or the Mediterranean Sea. Not to mention that they are served along their entire length by the 12-km-long greenway linking Sète to Marseillan. So, don’t wait any longer to slip on your swimsuit and head to this town with its timeless charm!

Developed beaches

Whether you’re looking for the comfort of a sun lounger, the shade of a parasol or simply a table to eat at, you’ll be delighted to know that the beaches in Sète are well-equipped, particularly Lido Beach.

Water sports activities

Thanks to their proximity to Sète and Marseillan, the beaches of the Lido are also the ideal place to try your hand at a range of water sports.

So, if you’d like to try your hand at kitesurfing, diving, sailing or kayaking during your stay, head to the port of Sète and along the Lido beaches to visit our various partners.

First-aid posts

To make the most of your stay in Sète, six lifeguard stations are open from 10am to 7pm, from mid-June to early September (depending on the season), at:

  • Lazaret beach (access point no. 1)
  • La Fontaine beach (access point no. 13)
  • Lido Beach (access point no. 22)
  • La Baleine beach (access point no. 41)

For more information on the lifeguard duty times for each beach, as well as the exact locations of showers and public toilets, please consult the map below or visit the Sète town council website directly.

Beaches accessible to all

You’ll also find access mats on these same beaches, allowing people with reduced mobility to enjoy the beach. And to experience the joys of swimming, head to La Fontaine and Lido beaches, where the lifeguard stations are equipped with Tiralos (swimming wheelchairs).

My holidays with my dog

If you’d like to enjoy a refreshing break with your dog whilst on holiday in Sète, we invite you to visit Vassal Beach all year round, between access points 73 and 74.

The other beaches in Sète are accessible to dogs kept on a lead only from 1 October to 31 May, except Jalabert Beach (entrances 62, 63, 64 and 65) in order to protect the nesting of protected migratory birds that nest in this area during this period.
