The Saint-Louis Lighthouse

Seen from above, the view is spectacular. But you have to work for it. Get ready to climb no fewer than 126 steps to reach the top. The lighthouse’s flashes guide sailors into the fishing port, at the heart of this maritime town.

Don’t miss out on this unique visit. And with good reason: this monument is the only one open to the public on the French Mediterranean coast.

Family tip:
Entry is free for children up to and including the age of 11. There’s no doubt about it: this activity is highly recommended for families and has been awarded the “Famille Plus” label!

Some figures and a bit of history

  • 2,297 stones, 310 m³ of cut stone, 126 steps, 33.5 m high, 6.50 m in diameter at the base and 4.55 m at the top, 3 m in internal diameter.
  • Built around 1680, demolished in 1944 by German mines, it was rebuilt in 1948. Today, it continues to mark the entrance to the channel with its red light and is now open to the public.

Come and climb the steps of this incredible viewpoint and enjoy a 360° view of the commercial port, the marina and the old town.
