Oyster therapy

Nestled between the vineyards and the lagoon stands an old country house, complete with its former wine cellar… This is the Tarbouriech estate. A true family home now run by Sabine and Florent, it prioritises well-being and showcases Mediterranean oysters in all their forms.

Before we tell you more about the activities awaiting you during your stay at the Tarbouriech estate, let us introduce you to the four bedrooms and suites in the manor house, the two lodges in the 13th-century thatched barn, the garden lodge and the traditional local fisherman’s cottage where you can stay during your holiday.

The spa

Tucked away in the estate’s old wine cellars, the Tarbouriech spa offers a delightful interlude of well-being during your stay in the Thau Archipelago. Its unique feature lies above all in its skincare products, which are made from oyster nacre.

A veritable concentrate of vitamins, minerals and trace elements, oyster flesh is rich in energy, protein and antioxidants, not to mention being low in fat. It is only natural that the Tarbouriech estate drew inspiration from the virtues of the oyster, a millennia-old legacy of Chinese medicine, as well as numerous beneficial active ingredients (aragonite, marine collagen, marine silk) to develop the products and treatment protocols offered at their establishment.

Now known as Oyster Therapy, this expertise can be experienced during a bath using exclusive active ingredients sourced from the sea and by-products of oysters, or a massage with special Tarbouriech oyster shells that have been polished and heated.

For a more traditional experience, the Tarbouriech spa also offers body wraps, baths, exfoliation treatments, massages, or access to the spa facilities for half a day or a full day, as well as to the heated swimming pool—over 25 metres long—from winter through to summer.

The restaurant

After this relaxing interlude, do pop into the estate’s restaurant for another oyster experience – this time, on your plate.

Oyster farmers for three generations, the Tarbouriech family invites you to their restaurant “La Folie”, with views over the vineyards and the lagoon, to enjoy Mediterranean cuisine that changes with the seasons and is prepared with respect for local produce.

Here you’ll enjoy vegetables from local biodynamic farms, meat from local farmers, regional wine, fish caught fresh from the lagoon that very day, shellfish, sea snails, seaweed, and, of course, the estate’s signature speciality: oysters. Do feel free to continue your exploration of the special Tarbouriech oyster at the oyster bar “Les Nacres”.

Other places to eat

If, whilst exploring the area, you fancy a gourmet break, head to the edge of the lagoon, to a renovated former oyster farm known as Le St Barth, to sample the special Tarbouriech oyster or, for a change of pace, Bouzigues and Seven oysters. You can even try Sabine Tarbouriech’s speciality: mussels in a braised sauce!

Over in Bouzigues, the birthplace of the Mediterranean oyster, Le St Pierre awaits you for a tasting of oysters, mussel brasucade and local wines, with a view of the oyster beds and the ballet of the oyster barges.
