Cook in Sète

Rich in history, the ‘Little Venice of Languedoc’ can also boast a rich culinary heritage. And what better way to experience it than by taking part in a cookery workshop during your holiday? If this sounds tempting, head to the heart of Sète’s market halls to meet Joe le Cooker and his chef, Magali Mag.

For adults

Whether you’re with friends or family, a beginner or an experienced cook, chef Magali invites you to discover the secrets of Sète’s recipes during one of the three themed workshops she offers: Discovery, Authentic, and Wine Tour.

You can choose between: making a main course and a dessert; cooking a starter, a main course and a dessert; or perhaps you’d prefer to pair your dishes with a wine tasting. And if the choice seems too difficult, you can even book a course (€180 – 6 people) that combines all three workshops into one.

Once you’ve made your choice, all you’ll need to do is grab your apron before getting started. Peeling, poaching, paring, chopping… These are the main steps you’ll tackle during this workshop, always under Magali’s watchful eye and with her expert guidance.

At the end, you can of course enjoy tasting your creations in a friendly atmosphere, or choose to take them home with you (don’t forget to bring your Tupperware). The added bonus: you’ll be given a recipe sheet so you can recreate everything at home.

For children

Children will also have the chance to try their hand at Sète-style cooking during a workshop led by Magali. Once they’ve put on their chef’s hats and aprons, they’ll have the choice of making traditional Sète biscuits or the famous tielle, the symbol of this coastal town. It will also be a great opportunity for them to discover the flavours and tastes of fruit and vegetables. Here too, once the workshop is over, each child can choose to enjoy their creations on the spot or take them home, along with the recipe, to share with their loved ones.

And why not think even bigger for your child’s birthday? At Joe le Cooker, it’s possible to blow out the candles after making some traditional Sète cakes and celebrate with friends (price on request).
