Spring as you’ve never experienced it before in the Thau Archipelago

In the Thau Archipelago, spring doesn’t just arrive: it makes a grand entrance. Colours burst forth, terraces fill up, and sailing boats set sail once more… And above all, we rediscover that rhythm we’d forgotten: the one where we take our time. Cycling along the lagoon, tucking into oysters with your feet in the water, strolling through villages where art pops up around every corner.

This year, the Thau Archipelago invites you to slow down and enjoy it all the more. And as a bonus? One of the largest gatherings of sailing boats in the Mediterranean is coming to Sète at the end of March. Yes, you read that right!

1. Change things up 🌊

What if this year were the year we got back to basics? In the Thau Archipelago, slowing down isn’t just a resolution – it’s a way of life. Here, we take our time: time to cycle without a specific destination , to sit down to a dozen oysters overlooking the Thau lagoon, to lose ourselves in the narrow streets of Bouzigues or to watch the sunset from the Corniche de Sète.

2. The tall ships are arriving ⛵

From 31 March to 6 April, Escale à Sète returns. For several days, the quays will be filled with tall ships, the town will come alive to the rhythm of concerts and shows, and a maritime atmosphere will take hold. What you can experience: climb aboard the sailing ships and discover their history, enjoy concerts and entertainment by the sea, stroll amongst the stalls and street performers, and soak up the unique atmosphere of a harbour in celebration. A unique event, to be experienced at least once in a lifetime!

3. Try a different kind of stroll 🌸

Spring brings colours to life, sets the birds singing and makes the paths of the Thau Archipelago a delight to walk. It’s the perfect time to set off on foot: stroll along the turquoise lagoon, climb to the summit ofMont Saint-Clair, lose yourselfamongst the vineyards and scrubland, and discovera secluded cove. It’s the ideal time to take your time and see the Thau basin from a different angle.

4. Cycle with a view of the lagoon 🚲

54 kilometres of pure cycling bliss: a cycle tour around the Thau Lagoon is a must for lovers of cycling and breathtaking scenery. Passing through charming villages, oyster beds, flamingos and vineyards, this flat and accessible loop offers a complete immersion in the character of the Thau Archipelago. And if you’re feeling peckish? The oyster farms are just waiting for you.

5. Art is everywhere 🎨

This spring, discover the Thau Archipelago in a whole new way with the Balades Artistiques en Méditerranée (BAM). In the streets of Sète, Marseillan, Mèze and Frontignan, four trails combine heritage, landscapes and contemporary art. On foot, by bike or by bus, set off to discover artworks that have taken over public spaces. With quizzes for children, every outing becomes a real family adventure. An original and free way to (re)discover the Thau basin.

6. Take a dip in the lagoon 🦪

Here, the oyster is more than just a product: it is a culture, a craft, a history. On the Thau lagoon, 21 oyster farms welcome you for an authentic immersion in the Conchylitour. You’ll discover the techniques of the oyster farmers, the magic of rope-based sea farming, and meet the men and women who keep this unique tradition alive. And of course… you ’ll get to taste the famous Mediterranean oysters, straight from the people who grow them.
